Consumo sostenibile - L’importanza della quantità e della qualità

Sustainable consumption - The importance of quantity and quality

Jul 04, 2024

Quantity and quality have always been the basis of the philosophy with which we create Dr.Neu products.
From the very beginning, the Dr.Neu brand has established itself on the market with the motto "less but better", with unique, innovative products capable of minimizing the impact on the environment and on health.

In general, QUANTITY is a concept that expresses the measure of a substance. Along with QUALITY, it is one of the variables needed to express the property of any single entity that can be subjected to measurement, possibly even numerically.

How important is it for the environment to respect quantities?

Here we're referring specifically to household cleaning and the products used for home care and maintenance, but the concept we're about to express is applicable to any area.

Respecting the quantities of substances or products we use daily is essential for protecting the environment and, why not, even our wallets!
The environmental impact of detergents is far from negligible; just think of how many products fill our cupboards: laundry detergents and additives, air fresheners, cleaners for all surfaces, descalers, and so on.

Home care and maintenance is absolutely important, but we must strive to do it in the most sustainable way possible.

Leaving aside the environmental impact of packaging disposal, which we'll discuss in a dedicated article in the future, the first good habit to limit water pollution and prevent eutrophication is to limit detergent use to the necessary dosage.
It's important to use the manufacturer's recommended dosage. For laundry detergents, for example, it's essential to follow the dosages indicated on the label based on water hardness and soiling level.
We often mistakenly think that using too much detergent isn't a bad thing—" after all, it's for cleaning! "—but the substances in detergents settle on fabrics and can penetrate our skin, even causing unpleasant allergic reactions.
Using the right dose is therefore an important precaution that should be adopted with all the detergents we use at home.

As with food, when it comes to cleaning and hygiene, prioritize quality and reduce quantity. Therefore, choose concentrated, high-performance products so you use only what you need, avoiding unnecessary waste and benefiting from significant environmental and economic benefits.

When choosing a product, always keep this fundamental rule in mind: choose quality products that are effective at small doses.

Also remember that even natural-based formulations, or the use of "natural" products like vinegar, can be harmful to the environment if used improperly. We'll discuss the significant environmental impact of vinegar, when used excessively and inappropriately in everyday household activities, in a future article.

The last piece of advice we give you, but no less important, is to carefully read the label of the product you are using and all the instructions provided for correct use.

Sustainable behavior begins with these small gestures, because an informed consumer is a conscious consumer capable not only of consuming less but also of consuming better.
